Daniel García Andújar

Daniel G. Andújar is an artist, activist and theoretician who lives and works in Barcelona. A long-time member of irational.org, the pioneering international net.art group, in 1996 he launched Technologies To The People (TTTP), a fictional online company with the aim, in the artist’s words, of “making us aware of the reality around us and of how false promises of free choice inevitably turn out to be new forms of control and inequality”. In the same vein, Andújar pursued other initiatives such as online forums for debating cultural policies (e-barcelona.org and e-valencia.org) and Archivo Postcapital 1989–2001, a vast online archive of audio files, texts and images. Through these records, which tend to be both indeterminate and infinite, Andújar invites people to think long and hard about the conditions of image production, distribution and accumulation in the contemporary world. The artist has exhibited at numerous museums and events across the globe, including the Venice Biennale, Manifesta, Helsinki Photography Biennial, the Kyiv Biennale, and Documenta 14 in Athens and Kassel in 2017. In 2015 the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía hosted a retrospective of his work in Madrid, curated by Manuel Borja-Villel. He has led workshops and seminars for artists and social collectives in many different countries.
