You create images so they won’t explode inside your head. Most of those images are just shavings that your mind sheds and spits out, but some of them, a very few, can be captured in some form and made visible. If they occupy space, we call them sculptures; if they move, we say they’re films; if they’re still, trapped in their expressive urgency, then they’re drawings … and so on. We know the head is the place furthest from the body, and you might think you’re situated directly below your head, but there’s nobody there. My work tries to deal with that absence.
