Xavier Ribas

Xavier Ribas is a photographer and lecturer on photography at the University of Brighton (UK) and the Polytechnic University of Valencia. He studied Social Anthropology at the University of Barcelona (1990) and Documentary Photography at the Newport School of Art, Media and Design (1993) in Great Britain. His work is represented in the collections of more than twenty museums and art centres across Europe, including the Stedelijk Museum (Amsterdam), Fotocollectie Universiteit Leiden, MACBA (Barcelona), CAAC (Seville), MUSAC (León) and CGAC (Santiago de Compostela). He won the Leica Award at PHotoEspaña in 1998 and has received numerous photography commissions from institutions such as the Centre National des Arts Plastiques de Francia, the International Photography Research Network Fellowship, Fondo Fotográfico Universidad de Navarra, the University of Toulouse and Fundación Telefónica. Ribas lives and works in Brighton and Barcelona.
