Rubén Grilo
Rubén Grilo (Lugo, 1981) studied at the University of Barcelona and the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam. His work employs a wide range of media and formats, from sculpture to laser animation.
He has exhibited at Fundació Joan Miró (Barcelona), Künstlerhaus – Haller für Kunst & Medien (Graz), Nogueras Blanchard (Madrid), Kunstverein Hildesheim, V4ULT (Berlin), Union Pacific (London), Martin van Zomeren (Amsterdam), CIRCA Projects (Newcastle upon Tyne), 1646 (The Hague), Supplement (London), Wilfried Lentz (Rotterdam), CGAC (Santiago de Compostela) and CSS Bard (New York), among other venues. He also curated an exhibition at Future Gallery in Berlin, collaborated with Spiros Hadjidjanos on a performance for the CA2M in Móstoles, and participated in projects with Drop City at M HKA – Museum of Contemporary Art, Antwerp, and with Metaphysics at ZKM – Center for Art and Media (Karlsruhe) and the Computer History Museum (Mountain View, CA). He recently launched a line of oil paints called Everfresh, which was presented at the Akademie der Künste during the 9th Berlin Biennale. Grilo was an artist-in-residence at Gasworks London and is a recipient of the Fundación Botín grant, the Generación 2017 grant, and the ARCO Prize from the Regional Government of Madrid.
